Hewlett-Packard Co. has tapped Mark Angelino, a 30-year IT industry veteran whose past roles include a long stint at IBM Corp., to handle worldwide distribution for its $54 billion enterprise business unit, which includes the vendor's servers, storage, networking, software and services.

HP officials said that Angelino's background in cloud computing, telecommunications and sales set him apart.

Angelino, whose official title is senior vice president, Global Distribution, HP Enterprise Business, is tasked with managing HP's relationships worldwide with channel partners, system integrators (SI), managed services providers (MSP), business advisory firms, network service providers (NSP), and independent software vendors (ISV) involved with selling solutions surrounding the vendor's enterprise-class products.

He will report to Thomas Hogan, HP Enterprise Business executive vice president, sales, marketing and strategy.

"Mark's wealth of experience in cloud computing and the communication industry, and his proven sales leadership at scale, will help ensure HP is fully leveraging the reach, expertise and influence of our valued partners," Hogan said.

Before landing at HP, Angelino served as Salesforce.com's executive vice president, Customer Success, handling that company's sales, call center and platform services in North America. He also has held sales and marketing positions at Sprint Nextel.
